Kiwane Garris is a former professional basketball player, coach, and youth development advocate dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Garris earned recognition as a standout player at University of Illinois, where he later became a Hall of Famer. His basketball career included time in the NBA, representing Team USA as a Bronze Medal winner in 1998, and 12 successful years playing professionally overseas.
Following his playing career, Garris transitioned into coaching and mentoring, working at the junior college, high school, and travel basketball levels. He is the Founder and CEO of Future Superstars, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering youth through mentoring, education, life-skills development, and sports programming.
Alongside his wife, Syleena, and their three sons—Kai, Kiwane Jr., and Kingston—Garris continues to impact communities by creating opportunities for young people to develop confidence, character, leadership, and academic success. His mission is to use sports and education as vehicles to inspire the next generation and help them become successful both on and off the court.
